Not a single red cent!
Unfortunately, the EH! Team does not have the ability to decide where and where your music isn’t placed. Our services strive to be a quick and easy process for our clients and tampering with this, defeats the purpose of “hassle free”. However, the EH! Team will try our best to extract enough information from you before submitting your music to the Deck so we can try our best to not place your music where you’d least prefer. Please understand that if we add another layer of screening this will deter our clients as they already have strict deadlines. The EH! Team does not want to create additional complications.
Freaking EH, we will. However, we might not be able to guarantee this before your music is aired… why? It’s the nature of the business. Your music is sitting in a secured library only the who’s who’s of the industry have personalized access to and sometimes your song (plus 5 others) might be in the running of what song is to be placed. In these cases, the EH! Team isn’t informed until we receive cue sheets succeeding an aired show.
Yep! Remember, we work with you on a 1 year non-exclusive agreement. In the wise words of Jay-Z, “You (We) can’t knock the hustle”, keep pushing your tunes as if we didn’t exist. This is something important to EH! SIDE… we want to ensure the progression of Canadian Music is not hindered. However, you cannot have an existing publishing deal. If that’s the case, that’s a different case and we don’t run in that kind of race.
It’s pretty straightforward: you give EH! SIDE the right to non-exclusively place your music in our clients media content worldwide for a license fee based on usage, clients budgets, etc. You also give EH! SIDE the right to administer for you our versions of your music with the appropriate performance for an initial 1-year period that will automatically re-instate after the first year unless we receive written notification otherwise.
You need to sign the contract as well as anyone else who holds rights to the music, masters or publishing. Keep in mind that by signing the Licensing Agreement you are legally responsible if it turns out there are other parties involved that have not been properly identified. EH! SIDE and our clients take no responsibility and are indemnified by the License Agreement. So please be sure to include all parties involved in the Licensing Agreement.
You can initially submit two mp3 demo’s via our Submit Music tab on our web site for us to demo. Please submit the two tracks that you feel best represents yourself as an artist.
All music submitted to EH! SIDE after the initial .mp3 demo submission should be in high quality 16 bit, 48khz .aif or .wav, format. Please refrain from sending compressed files or conversions from previous compressed files. If our ears deem the quality of the recordings/files sub par, we will reject them. That means you .mp3 files!
Hot, crazy, loud, scary – whatever kind of music. We get a ton of requests – some normal, some strange. We’re interested in all genres and we listen to everything.
Sure. As long as you cleared the rights to it – which in most cases, not likely. Easy answer: NO.
Yes, not an issue. But just make sure that particular music is within public domain. In any event, we’re going to check too – we’re a music licensing company … OF COURSE WE WILL
No. Unless you have clearance (which you’ll have to provide us) we might be able to make an exception. In any other case, we never accept music with samples. So, you hip hop beat basement cats – you know what we’re saying …
Sure, you can submit whatever you like, however it definitely helps to get your music placed if you have mixes without vocals well. We recommend it.
Well, you don’t need to but we do highly recommend it. Imagine this, your song ends up on commercials during the next World Cup broadcasting … would you like to reap the benefits of those royalties? Thought so, so you need to sign up with SOCAN.
No – royalties don’t get paid by us. Royalty payments come from SOCAN to you directly. And remember, it’s important to keep you address and contact info up to date with SOCAN. You want that check to get to you don’t you?
That depends on the placement. Different placements in different places and for different lengths of time all pay different amounts. We split the royalties with you the artist 50/50. You receive all the writer’s share of the royalties and EH! SIDE receives all of the publishing share of the royalties.
Yes we do. We re-title and register your music with the EH! SIDE naming convention. This allows both you and us to administer each version of your music separately. EH! SIDE only collects money on the placements we make for you using our versions of your music. Nothing else. Ownership of the music is still yours.
We split everything 50/50 with you the artist. All single use license fees secured by EH! SIDE we split with the artist 50/50. With regards to royalty payments on the backend we do the same, EH! SIDE keeps our half of the total royalties in the form of the publishing share and the artist keeps their half of the royalties in the form of the writers share.
When we get paid for a placement we cut you a check for your fifty percent. If it’s a royalty payment then SOCAN will cut you a check that comes directly to you.
There is no “average” number that we can give you here, it depends on so many different factors. You could receive thousands of dollars for a whole slew of placements that add up to some serious bucks over time. Or, you could receive a HUGE placement and retire for the rest of your life – it’s tough to say … in any event, we love talking about cash — big or small.
Sorry, no. We only send payment to the initial or designated point person.
